Acclaimed family favourite, Carnival of the Animals, by Circa and Out of the Box, has soared and tumbled onto QPAC's stages not once or twice, but four times!
And now the finned, furry and feathered fun is available to watch on demand as this joyful production joins the great line-up of shows on our Digital Stage.
Created by Circa and QPAC’s Out of the Box Festival, Carnival of the Animals has toured extensively throughout Australia and the world, captivating and delighting audiences and critics with over 300 performances in 14 countries since its premiere at our 2014 Out of the Box Festival.
Inspired by Camille Saint-Saëns’ delightful salute to feathers, fur and fins, Carnival of the Animals brings this classical music suite to life for a whole new generation of circus, music and animal lovers.
QPAC’s Chief Executive John Kotzas said the joyful production's addition to QPAC's digital stage would mean many more people would be able to enjoy Carnival of the Animals wherever they may be.
“It is wonderful that this collaboration with internationally acclaimed and award-winning local arts company, Circa is now available online,” Mr Kotzas said.
“The production’s consistent touring, including four return seasons at QPAC is testament to its quality and appeal."
Circa Artistic Director Yaron Lifschitz said the company was excited that this special version of Carnival of the Animals, featuring young Queenslanders performing alongside seasoned Circa artists, can now be viewed on QPAC's Digital Stage.
"Circa engaged 16 talented young artists to be part of the Carnival of the Animals cast and perform on QPAC’s Playhouse stage, which gave a wonderful opportunity for the children to get real life circus training and performance skills," he said.
This was an Australian premiere of the reimagined version of the show and provided Queensland audiences the first experience of the home grown and expanded Circa Ensemble.
We invite you to be inspired by the talented Circa artists and young children in this magical production of Carnival of the Animals on our Digital Stage here.
You can also check out this great behind the scenes video.
Digital Stage is made possible by QPAC, in partnership with companies and artists across the state, to bring the performing arts to more Queenslanders.

Bringing the arts beyond the theatre walls to audiences across the state and beyond, Digital Stage offers an ever-increasing array of content ranging from exclusive recorded performances, behind-the-scenes footage, and educational workshops for students and teachers.
